A village perched above the sea. A village overlooking the whole valley. A village open to everyone. A village full of people passionate about life and love. This is where I found myself for Easter this year where I followed the Capuchin procession.

Following around 70 hooded men crowned with thorns, dressed in a white habit and girded with ropes, they flagellate their shoulders with metal whips called disciplines. ''Disciplinary'' therefore, for the use of discipline understood as a practice of self-punishment for the redemption of sins and to feel closer to the pain and Passion of Jesus Christ

The spread of these penitential practices occurred in the southern regions starting from the 15th century thanks to the Confraternities of the Disciplined (Confrataria Fustigatum). The Disciplnari, like all the rites of Holy Week, originated in Badolato with the presence of the strong Franciscan Order.
