Oriximiná

Maria

The last stop before entering the Amazonian forest. I'm not afraid. I'm curious how far would be the reality from the imagination.

Before we enter we have to buy the food and get ready for the long journey. Oriximiná is the last base in front of the massive forest. Here people gather and sell their goods from the surrounding forest. We organize the boats with which we will travel during three days. It is on these boats that I encountred many women holding their newborns in their arms returning to their villages.  I find myself in the middle of new families and we share the joy together.

We sleep all on each other's hammock. The boat is packed. During the night the stars reflect on the calm river and the indigenous ancestral song wake all of us in the morning.
